The start of 2017 for women was rough, and since the incredible Women's March in January, women have continued to come together from all over the world to stand for equality in all its forms . While the Day Without Women idea comes from a good place, it is truly not a viable option for many women who cannot afford to take off work, who live in poverty, who would be risking employment - the list goes on -but it is a good day to empower the women around you by supporting them.
Choose to shop solely at local and small women owned businesses and charities in your city. Actively seek them out, whether it's a woman-owned coffee shop, dry cleaners, a restaurant or bakery, or even a local boutique if you want to treat yourself! This is a time where we all need to lift each other up and help our communities continue to strive for equality.
Whether you are making small radical acts in your daily life or using your energy in making the world a more equal, safe and encouraging space to exist: WE THANK YOU!
We will be giving away the above Louise Reimer poster at both the Ottawa and Toronto shops until we run out (one per person please :) all day on the 8th. We will also be donating 5% of all purchases made on that day as well to SISTERING. All webstore orders will include a poster as well!
And if you're planning on going to the International Women's Day March in Toronto on Saturday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. the Ossington shop will be hosting a poster-making night to get ready for the rally. One more great reason to make a Victoire visit part of your International Women's Day!
