Description
The cutest cropped tees have come in from Birds of North America in collaboration with artist Neil MacCormick. Neil has painted full time since 1984 and co-owns Birds of North America with his partner, designer Hayley Gibson. The two have shared a studio since meeting in 2006.
Notes from Hayley Gibson:
Just the shady side of a quiet corner store in the summer, but this image brings me right back to being a kid. Freezies, backyard hoses, dirty bare feet and the earthy softness of lying on sun-warmed grass while the smell of fried onions from a neighbourhood window is carried by on the summer breeze.
Corner stores were all different, but always the same to me. The smell of the refrigerators, the frosty ice cream case and plastic pails of penny candy. I remember going in to stores like this with exactly one loonie, and taking my time to calculate how to get the most sugar for my buck, while also taking the 7 cents of tax into account. Very serious calculations! 😆 I didn’t know this corner store personally, but I know it intimately all the same.
