A few weeks ago, a group of us enrolled in one of Kat's workshops over at Blumenstudio. It was a first for all of us, but we are all pretty smitten with Kat and the work she does at Blumen so the idea of spending 2 hours one-on-one with her sounded like a great way to spend a Friday evening.

This particular workshop was all about technique - the proper technique for cutting and caring for fresh flowers to really get the most bang for your buck and make them last. We got to work with super fancy florist knives (which we got to keep!), but I have to say that one of the highlights was just hearing Kat intersperse stories of growing up in East Germany and her unique way of explaining things... For instance, "Yes I am German, but the reason my shop is so clean is because the flowers just last longer that way." And, I believe I received this feedback on a particular cut I was making on my bouquet: "It's good, but it's not right." Which I think is probably the nicest yet still most direct way of telling somebody that they're doing something all wrong.

Anyways, since we knew we would be among friends, we brought a few things with us to make ourselves at home during this workshop. Wanna know how the Victoire girls turn a super classy floral workshop in the most pristine flower shop in town into something...well I don't know how to describe it  other than making it our own. So we brought cheezies (but THE best cheezies in the WORLD, Hawkins Cheezies, made nearby in Belleville Ontario!) and a few drinks, so naturally things got a bit silly. And things quickly dissolved into yet another game of boobs or balls.

For those interested, Kat hosts workshops every month. There are workshops tonight & this Saturday on the topic of Thanksgiving centerpieces. You can find more information here.
